Hip, Hip-Hooray...
What a day! Our wonderful, yummy gummy bear has just earned his 10th
Champion and his Register Of Merit status. It could not have
happened to a more deserving dog. A big thank you to the breeders
who have recently used Gonta and have those beautiful
future champions out in the ring... many of which are major pointed.
Gonta has had limited breedings and earned his ROM through
just 2 breeders, Jodi Engel of Timbersky Akitas and his own breeder,
Colleen Sullivan Sondaisa Akitas. An honor like this is not taken
lightly! I feel blessed to have bred and shared my home with such a
wonderful and magnificent animal. It is extremely difficult for me
to properly express my feelings for this dog... I just love him so
very much! Thank you Gonta for coming into my life.
Obviously, Gonta
is one of our favorites!!! He not only was an outstanding
show dog, and pre-potent sire, but most importantly a loved member
of our family. Gonta has earned several Bests of Breed, a
Group 2 placement, a Best Bred By Exhibitor in Group and a
prestigious Best In Show at the Akita Club of Puget Sound Specialty,
as a veteran. Two years later Gonta earned Best Veteran,
Best Stud Dog, and an Award of Merit. Unbelievably, this has all
been accomplished with very little showing. Among his many talents,
Gonta earned his CD obedience title in early 2001, just
before turning the tender age of 9 years.
One of Gonta's
most imperative accomplishments has been that of a producer. With
very limited breedings he earned his Register Of Merit Producer,
with at least 3 of these champions being multiple group placers and
at least 2 are Best In Specialty Show winners themselves.
Unfortunately, care
and compassion are not emotions we all share for our dogs as they
age. No one was more surprised then me to find this out.
Fortunately I was called from miles away to the side of my sweet
beautiful Gonta. I felt as if my heart had been ripped from
my chest and my legs were collapsing beneath me from the pain. This
truly magnificent dog was owed some dignity and relief from his
suffering. I do smile now when I think of you...knowing I held you
and kissed your beautiful face as you were freed from your pain. I
know you wait for me Gummy Bear...I see you in my dreams. |
